Well, while a spell indoors is a piece of cake for some, it turns depressing pretty quickly for a lot others. These are the innate wanderlusts – a special section of humanity that gets alive outdoors. They like to travel, and tour, and hike….
As soon as the lockdown necessitated by the global virus lifts, there is a rich array of exciting new places to visit!
The Ol Karia Geo-thermal Spa, for starters.
Quoting verbatim, this is a write-up on Facebook, by a certified wanderlust – David Muema.
Let me ask, how was your normal Saturday schedule before the Covid-19 outbreak?
Adventurers, hikers, and road trippers alike agree that Saturday was adventure day. After a long week in the office, you definitely need to relax and regroup.
Some people sleep in, some apologize for drunk texting, but wanderers hang out with family, friends and strangers on road trips (day trips)
We all agree Naivasha is always a plan for day trips, and methinks the best spot to hangout and unwind is at the majestic, therapeutic, massive natural spa, Ol Karia Geothermal spa. The KenGen-owned Geo-thermal Spa is located inside Hells Gate National Park which is managed by the Kenya Wildlife Service (KWS).
It’s the only one of its kind in Africa.
The Spa offers a bouquet of adventure, spice comfort, luxury, and true African hospitality. Whether you are seeking an adventure or that elusive African getaway this phenomenon will cater for your need.
From the Great Rift Valley along the majestic shores of Lake Naivasha to the land of the Maasai, the setting of the Geothermal Spa ensures that you have an exciting & memorable visit.
The water is hot, and is rich in minerals; with sulphur and silica having the highest percentage. (That’s why the water seems cloudy, whitish) when you look at it from far.
They say it has health benefits to the skin.
The spa has 4 step-downs and the fourth is the deepest and its level all round (not like swimming pools which have deep ends). The spa is five feet deep and 3,600 square meters wide.
You don’t swim here so swimming skills not required, it’s a spa, you enjoy the moment inside the otherwise therapeutic milky waters.
Things to remember:
- There’s a baby pool for babies and short people!
- Remember to remove any silver jewelry that you may have, otherwise they will turn blackish.
