Unlimited entertainment on your GOtv screens to spice up this December!

Christmas is so much harder when you get older.

It’s like, “What do you want this year?”

When you get older, priorities start to change. What you wish for keeps plunging lower and lower on the grand scheme of life. Maybe a sense of purpose, financial security, could use more sleep, perhaps a bottle of wine and maybe some new socks.

On a personal level, a particular Christmas stands out. That was the year father bought us (or, rather the whole village) a 14” black & white TV. I don’t know if the brand still runs, but the Calcum TV made a bigger impact in that village than the three wise men. It’s not empty air. The only other household with a screen was two villages away, and belonged to an influential Provincial Commissioner in the Nyayo-era – he had an intimidating steel gate – and, his kids didn’t speak our language.

The village swayed as one to a heartbreaking emotional rollercoaster, thanks to Tausi – one of the earliest local soaps. Grown village men would practice Kurt Angle’s signature neck grip after a riveting show of WWE, on Tuesdays.

Regrettably, father had to pack the black box into its box after a week. Life had changed for us. And, indeed the entire village. One of his mates who liked to hog the main seat on WWE Tuesdays, had chiseled ‘Hit Man’ on his forearm – in honor of the then-famous wrestler, Bret Hart.

Modern times are better. An average household has a TV, and lots of hours will be spent in armchairs and rugs watching Christmas-themed Biblical movies and carols. December is generally has a lazy, laid-back feel. The weather seems to agree to that, too.

Santa has been listening, and through GOtv, there’s an endless option of riveting stuff to keep you glued. Popcorn, anyone?

Four new channels have been added on GOtv Max and GOtv Plus. GOtv Value has some new interesting, additional channels. There are now more movies, more local shows, more entertainment for the kids, more music and more documentaries to keep you glued to your screens.

Whether it’s magical movies that tickle your fancy or thought-provoking investigations and documentaries, this is it. The kids will haggle over the remote, for they have a rich menu of kids’ stuff to gorge on – and you’ll have some peace to catch up with old friends you ain’t seen since forever.
